Dr. Mirkovic, Your Ally

Tatjana K. Mirkovic, BSc, DVM, DACVIM (Small Animal Internal Medicine)

I was born and raised in Manitoba and earned my Doctor of Veterinary Medicine degree in 2000 from the Western College of Veterinary Medicine, University of Saskatchewan. I went on to complete a one-year internship in small animal medicine and surgery at the Atlantic Veterinary College, University of Prince Edward Island in 2001, followed by a residency in small animal internal medicine at the University of Tennessee, College of Veterinary Medicine in Knoxville, Tennessee. I became a Diplomate of the American College of Veterinary Internal Medicine in 2004.

Since returning home to Canada in 2004, I worked as an internal medicine specialist in a large private specialty practice hospital for seven years prior to launching my own mobile service. Allies in Internal Medicine allows me to travel to general veterinary practices to consult on difficult or unusual medical cases and perform a variety of special internal medicine procedures. I enjoy the personal interaction with family veterinarians, clinic staff, and pets and their owners that my mobile service allows. My mobile service allows me to help many owners who might otherwise be unable to access specialty veterinary care for their loved ones.

In 2020 I started providing vet-to-vet teleconsultations in internal medicine to help veterinarians access a specialists opinion/partner with a specialist while they continue to provide in-person care to their patients and clients. This service is provided on-line through Fidu. An on-line platform designed by veterinarians to help vets access specialists to help them care for their patients remotely for those clients unwilling or unable to take their pet to see a specialist themselves.

I live in beautiful Port Moody, BC. In my spare time I enjoy the great BC outdoors, cycling, traveling, and hanging out with my two best friends - my husband, and my Black Labrador, Edward.

My professional affiliations include membership in the following organizations:

ACVIM (American College of Veterinary Internal Medicine)
CVBC (College of Veterinarians of British Columbia)
